Classic Wedding for a Sweet Southern Romance
Melissa and Matthew are the perfect embodiment of Southern hospitality and charm. Melissa, a pediatric nurse from NOLA, met Matthew, a military captain from Kentucky, at the Austin Rodeo. This couple fell in love and got engaged when Matthew proposed wearing a New Orleans Saints Jersey and Melissa said “yes” to being on his team!
Both of their families are Catholic, so the couple had their eyes set on holding a ceremony at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, and then held a beautiful reception at Hotel Ella. Melissa planned for their theme to be classic and romantic, which meant that their decor was bright white and bountiful with greenery and hints of navy blue.
Note that the flower arrangements by Bella By Sara came out so perfectly! Melissa particularly loved the white anemone flowers with a dark center because it accentuated the navy tones in their wedding decor. Additionally, these invitations by The Inviting Pear look divine with the adornment of the flowers!
Our planner, Amy Bay, said that working with Melissa was her favorite part of the planning process. Not only was this bride incredibly sweet, but every recommendation that Amy gave her for Photography, Cake, Rentals, and more, was exactly what Melissa chose to do. Because Amy was working with her “dream bride”, it turned out to be Melissa’s “dream wedding”, achieved by their all-star team of elite vendors!
Melissa’s hair and makeup was completed by Anastasia Miller, giving her a natural look that was exactly Melissa’s style. Our amazing photographer, Jessica Frey Photography, took shots of this beauty as soon as she got into her dress in these pictures! We’re also so glad that one of the best videographers out there, Lauren Maria Films, came to capture their special day on video.
Their reception space at Hotel Ella was decorated with linens by La Tavola and Premiere Events and stationary by The Inviting Pear. This elegant cake by Michelle’s Patisserie was expertly adorned with more floral from Bella By Sara, including those special anemones!
Shoutout to the catering team from Hotel Ella for doing such an awesome job! They even poured a few plastic champagne flutes with sparkling apple cider so that the kiddos could get their own "champagne" glass to toast with alongside all of the adults. So cute!
Our DJ from Premiere Entertainment announced “Captain and Mrs. Morrell” in to perform their first dance, and then played all the tunes they loved for the rest of their reception party!
To end the night, the couple was “sent off” with a sparkler exit as they walked out of the hotel that they would walk back into within a few minutes, since that’s where they were staying. LOL! Their guests were taken care of by Uptown Valet, who had a large passenger bus to take everybody to their hotel.
Yes, their wedding was a spectacle. But let’s not forget the most important part - the couple themselves! They were such an adorable couple to plan with. Through Jessica Frey’s photos, you can really tell just how much this couple loves each other.
We’re so happy to have been a part of such a special and smooth wedding. Big shoutout to Melissa and Matthew for being such a great and easy client to work with. Congratulations to the happy couple!
