Celebrating Black Love at the Prospect House

Today’s #WeddingWednesday blog features an incredibly beautiful couple, both inside and out! Kreasha and Michael are super fun and loving people, “totally each other’s lobster” according to their planner, Lauren. They got married on September 25th of 2021, celebrating in style with immaculate accessories, a ceremony choir, several choreographed dances, and more!

This couple chose the Prospect House as their wedding venue, because of the blank, bright space that tied in perfectly with their boho dreamy decor. The airy and dry adornments from Good Seed Floral complimented their entire theme, totally fit for a September wedding.

Kreasha got her hair done by Slayed by Raa, who is an expert hair stylist that does a particularly great job for Black women’s wigs, braids, locs, and more. Then, her makeup was done by C. Taylor Makeup, a Jamaican-American artist that absolutely killed it with Kreasha’s makeup! Once she got into her Pronovias bridal gown, she was all done and looking stunning. Mike looked just as stunning with chic golden beads in his hair and a white fitted tux with black accents - which is a color we don’t normally see grooms wearing, but in his case, looked amazing!

The two had decided not to do a first look, but instead, a first touch. They were placed facing away from each other so they couldn’t see each other, but could hold hands and talk for a brief moment before the ceremony. Esther Makau Photography captured this special moment flawlessly, don't you think? Agave Creative also was shooting live videos all day to record these sweet memories for the couple to have for life.

Then came time for the ceremony. Something so special that Lauren was obsessed with was the Gospel Choir playing them in, The Levite Laboratory. Mike danced down the aisle with the choir following close behind, creating an emotional and lively setting. Also, we love this photo of the best man, Jabari, being so happy at seeing Mike tear up when Kreasha walked down the aisle!

Their pastor proclaimed them husband and wife, and they happily completed the ceremony with the historic Black tradition of “jumping the broom”!

Following the ceremony, the Charmin Greene Band began playing their live set for cocktail hour. Kreasha and Mike expressed to Lauren that they really wanted their guests to have fun, even though the bridal party would be away, taking photos at this time. Therefore, the Oh Happy Day Photo Booth was opened during cocktail hour, which Lauren loved and from then on, has always recommended bringing photo booths in before reception! It was a huge hit.

To set up reception, the tables were set with linens from Premiere Events and grand peacock chairs from LOOT Rentals, which took some hefty planning to deliver on Lauren’s behalf. Lastly came the light floral arrangements from Good Seed Floral and table numbers by Scripted Ever After, and the simple, clean reception hall vision was brought to life!

A delicious dinner was served by SoHo Catering, and the reception officially began. The DJ from Texas Pro DJ announced in the bridal party, who came in dancing and ready to party! Then came the first few dances and toasts, which were all so sweet and full of laughter. Mike even practiced a special garter toss dance with several groomsmen, which looks insanely cool in the photos!

As for their cake, Michelle’s Patisserie created them a grand 7-tier cake with flavors of cookies & cream, pumpkin, and honey lavender. Again, the Good Seed Floral flowers took this cake to another level!

The entire day was an emotional celebration that was perfect for the dynamic and beautiful Kreasha and Mike. We really can’t get over how much they are meant for each other! Through all of these photos, you can tell they will always have a party together and love each other so dearly. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Webley!
