An Epic Party for a Latin-American Wedding

Alexa and Alex had originally planned to be married in May of 2020, but we all know what happened then. After rescheduling and replanning, the couple decided to have an intimate micro-wedding on Oct 16 2020, and then, exactly a year later in 2021, held a huge party to have an appropriate celebration for their wedding. Today’s blog is all about how we, and a huge team of fantastic vendors, came together to create a big Latin-American party to celebrate these two spectacular people.

Lauren Chumbley planned alongside Alexa and Alex through all the rescheduled dates, all of the changes, and all of the chaos. For her, she was simply happy to get to know the couple and keep planning with them. “Alexa is smart, driven, and very sweet. Also, Alex is freaking hilarious! He literally made me laugh all the time. I loved them both individually and together, and I especially loved their fun dynamic as a couple.”

They chose the vineyard at Camp Lucy to be the location of their big wedding celebration because of its beautiful greenery and wide open space. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the vineyard was all outdoors, perfect for giving a large, natural and elegant environment.

Their invitations and stationary were done by The Inviting Pear, who used the most perfect blue accents to stay within the light, muted blue theme of the wedding, like the color of the bridesmaids dresses. Here is a shot by Lauren Maria Films, who decorated the invitations with a light touch of floral.

To get ready, Alexa and all of her gorgeous bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done by All Dolled Up. Then, Alexa stepped into one of the most unique and stunning dresses we’ve ever seen. She truly looked incredible for her special day!

Meanwhile, Bella By Sara started to set up all of the floral arrangements for the ceremony arch, hanging greenery, large centerpieces, and more. These flowers are the epitome of elegance!

Then it was time for Alexa to walk down the aisle. Lauren Maria Films was the photographer and videographer for the day, capturing every fleeting moment, like the vows that Alexa and Alex said to each other in front of all of their guests. There was not a dry eye in the house. You can hear some of their heartwarming words in their wedding video made by Lauren Maria on her instagram!

Once the ceremony was over, everyone entered party mode! Their cocktail hour was kicked off by introducing two cute little burros from Sweet Magnolia Events carrying several beers up for grabs. Weldon Henson came to perform some country music right next to the hand-rolling Bobalu Cigars table, which was full of people constantly getting cigars. Lastly, Champagne Supply Co. brought a tiny champagne truck to start serving drinks to everyone. It was a busy and fun cocktail hour! But this was just the beginning of the fun.

The entire wedding reception was a million things: emotional, hilarious, full of love, lively, and LOCA (as in Hora Loca)! Alex started off with a sweet speech congratulating each family for coming together, since Alex was American and Alexa was Colombian and Dominican. Then came the fresh dinner served by Camp Lucy’s catering staff.

Alexa and Alex’s first dance was really important to them, so they choreographed and practiced a lot to be ready for the performance. At the actual reception, the crowd went wild seeing how much fun they were having! It was a blast, as you can tell from Lauren Maria's photos.

Now THIS is where the party really got turned up. We had our awesome DJ Neema from Bat City Beats to play all kinds of hits to get the people dancing. Then, the La10City Band performed several sets with hype songs from Bruno Mars, Selena, and more. Everybody was bumping to the great music all night long!

Some guests were dancing, some were singing, and some were taking pictures in the photo booth by Shutterbooth. At last, the night had reached the "Hora Loca" - the “crazy hour” in Spanish! For the final party addition, performers from Artisan Oddities came in bright makeup and outfits to be samba dancers and stilt walkers. This “crazy hour” was all about loud music, dancing with the performers, and blinging up everybody’s party attire with all kinds of dance floor props. The crowd got glow sticks, hats, mini flags (for America, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic), large flags, light-up glasses, and bead necklaces.

As for the late night snacks, there were plenty of options available. The Polkadots cake shown below was simply delicious and beautiful! Also, for guests with an extra sweet tooth, Churro Burro set up a table and gave out churros all night. Lastly, the food truck, Cow Bells, came to serve warm and savory finger foods, like cute mini burgers.

Alexa and Alex wanted to have this epic party to celebrate their epic love, and they totally deserved it. They are two people madly in love, and so clearly meant for each other. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, for letting us be a part of this amazing wedding day!
