K + B Sikh Splendor

For some, a long day might mean working over eight hours, maybe even 10 hours. Others might consider a 12 hour day pretty long. For Eclipse Event Co., we would consider a near- 22 hour work day up there. And so it was for Kam and Bal’s Sikh Wedding Extravaganza!

The day began with a 6:00AM arrival at Brazos Hall for Lauren, and 6:30AM arrival for Kristi who thankfully arrived armed with coffee.

STEMS Floral Design and Marquee Event Group also arrived at 6:00 AM to help prepare for an 8:00AM Garland Exchange between the Groom and families. Since the evening set up was so intricate, STEMS placed a curtain across the room so other vendors could begin set up while activities were going on on the other side.

The Groom arrived to the Garland Exchange via a Baraat Line of about 30 people with music led by Desi Junction DJ musicians.

In keeping wtih Sikh customs, all breakfast and lunch menu items (catered by Clay Pit) were vegetarian and there was no alcohol on site. Breakfast was served after the Garland Exchange and drinks were passed by the men in Bride Kam’s family.

A little after 10:00 AM, all 140 guests were invited upstairs where the roof deck of Brazos Hall had been transformed to look like a Sikh Temple for Kam and Bal’s ceremony. All people upstairs, (including wedding coordinators) must have their shoes removed and heads covered. Kam was able to rent beautiful Chantilly cases from Marquee Rents to store everyone’s shoes downstairs.

The Sikh Ceremony is where the Bride made her debut to her guests in a gorgeous red dress. The ceremony itself lasted a little under two hours with lunch immediately following.

While guests were still enjoying a delicious lunch from Clay Pit, other vendors began to arrive: Strong Events came to install custom Marquee letters for Kam and Bal’s bar. Desi Junction DJ’s also arrived early to set up their unique staging and white dance floor. Ilios also arrived a little before the afternoon send off to begin installing their gorgeous chandeliers.

At 1:30 PM, guests did a send off for Kam and Bal and took an afternoon break while the curtain came down and Eclipse Event Co. oversaw all vendors moving ahead with flipping both upstairs and downstairs. During this time, Kam and Bal changed and Bal had a mobile barber arrive at their room at Hotel Ella to do a hot shave on his beard. They both arrived fresh faced and beautiful for the 5:00 PM cocktail hour. Kam had a one of a kind dress custom made from a designer in her home country of England.

The cocktail hour ended up lasting two hours so the couple could enjoy a longer visit with guests. Clay Pit had action stations upstairs to give everyone fresh and delicious appetizers while an upbeat 80’s soundtrack played in the background.

Once cocktail hour ended and everyone headed downstairs, the couple requested to cut their cake first and head to their first dance. Sugar Shack did a beautiful job detailing the cake with golds and pinks, which mimicked all the custom signage and stationery for the evening.

Before the dinner buffet opened, guests were able to get a few dances in, the dance floor filled up immediately and you could find the bride and groom there for the majority of the evening.

Dinner was served a little before 9:00 PM and it was back to dancing. The last song ended up being a dance off between Bal and Kam’s families...we think it was tie!

On the way out the door, guests were able to take their Texas Themed favors (as most were from out the state or country). The couple purchased mini Texas Shaped Tequila bottles from Republic and tied it to a box with a cake ball from Sugar Shack with a Texas Decal.

Kam and Bal had their Sparkler Send Off and were whisked away in a dressed up Pedicab from Metrocycle Pedicabs.

After all was said and done, everyone had a wonderful time and all vendors were able to leave by 2:00AM. Click below to see a very condensed version of the day:
